A LIMS or laboratory information management system is a type of software designed to improve lab productivity and efficiency, by keeping track of data associated with samples, validations, laboratory workflows and instruments.
Our LIMS is integrated in all our processes and basically acts as an additional member of our team, automating workflows and tracking all the important sample information, data, workflows, and QA/QC results. Furthermore, we are able to log in not only from our computers and labtops but also using all different kind of devices, for example iPads, Surface etc. The Microsoft HoloLens2 is the next device which we are connecting to the LIMS System in order to document processes handsfree
Currently we have three areas, where we use augmented reality in the laboratory.
Remote Qualification of Equipment
The events of Covid-19 have opened up a new world of vulnerability to all industries, and especially those highly regulated like the medicinal products manufacturers and the possibility of Virtual Qualification as a tool going forward. Sites that have managed to remain operational have done so with strict guidelines on hygiene and social distancing which means no one should be on-site unless necessary. We are using this technology to install and qualify new equipment exclusively via remote access.
Remote Audits for supplier qualification
Remote audits give your organization a viable alternative to ensure continued compliance with GMP requirements. Remote audits leverage modern technology to ensure workflows are efficient and accurate. With this technology we are able to perform remote internal and external good manufacturing practices (GMPs) compliance audits and our customer gets a perfect overview of our GMP processes.
Furthermore, we use this system performing external audits at our suppliers.
Testing protocols and raw data documentation (in progress)
The Laboratory Execution System (LES) in Thermo Scientific™ SampleManager™ LIMS, LES and SDMS software guides analysts through each step of a method to ensure correct and accurate SOP execution and captures the complete process history. Drive quality and compliance through consistent, repeatable execution of methods and processes. The Hololens is connect directly to the LIMS and the analyst can choose the right device for its analysis, laptop, tablet or Hololens. We building the API in cooperation with the company Hol4labs (https://holo4labs.com/) with the aim to work handsfree in the laboratory.
